Prior to installing Central Heating, it is imperative to carry out a room heat-loss survey, to comply with Building Regulations. This allows us to calculate the heating load for the property, the output required, and the sizing of radiators and pipework for each room.
Once our Gas Safe Registered Heating Engineers have designed the system to suit your requirements (adhering to the regulations), the heat source, radiators and pipework will be installed. Copper pipework is preferable, due to improved flow rates. We flush the system to remove any debris that might cause cold spots or deterioration of the system, before commissioning the Central Heating and checking that all radiators are performing as expected. Any paperwork is then issued, as seen on the Gas Boiler Installations page.
At Redfern, we highly recommend that when having a Central Heating Installation in Plymouth, Devon or Cornwall, you consider futureproofing it with a Heat Pump in mind. Boilers are being phased out, and therefore, if having a New Boiler installed now, you should consider the fact that it will no doubt be your last. This will avoid the necessity of altering pipework and/or radiators once Heat Pumps get to the stage of being compulsory.
If fitting a brand-new Central Heating Installation, depending upon whether the pipework is simple or more complicated to run, it should take approximately 2 – 4 days to complete the project. If you require more information, please do not hesitate to contact us, either by completing the contact form, by calling us directly, or by requesting a quote.

The repairman was on time, friendly, extremely efficient and explained how to use the New boiler effectively. He cleaned up after 6 hours of tearing out the old boiler and completely replacing it. I will certainly recommend your company to my friends and family. EXCELLENT work! Grace PagetTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. From the initial contact with Redfern Heat Pumps, its been nothing short of an amazing service. Jennie, Mark and Tony who undertook the work have been so understanding and helpful. Like anything, big jobs never come at the right time, so was stressful! Mark provided a very reasonable, competitive quote and explained everything. When we were in the position to proceed it was booked in and completed to a high standard and Tony even tidied up after himself. Even following up the next day to check everything is working still and answering my stupid questions 🙃! They have been a pleasure to work with and wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone!! Thank you!!! Marc MatthewsTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. The technicians that came to my house to put in a new heating system and gas boiler had a good share of practical intelligence and provided what I thought was a reasonably priced job for the quality of work done , they led everything tidy throughout and offered aftercare service on all work done . I find it easy to recommend them to anyone Fiona OwenTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. A great firm of plumbers with reliable and friendly stay. We had Mark come round initially to give our boiler a service and to check out what was wrong with one of our radiators. Not only was he efficient, but managed to isolate the source of our radiator problem, which he explained to us in great detail, and sent through a quote for the work to be undertaken, which, in all fairness, was very reasonable. Fast forward a couple of weeks, and Tony turned up to flush out the rads. It was a mammoth task, and he carried out the work efficiently and cleared up any mess. You would not know that he had ever been in our house. Another really nice guy! Another shout out to Jennie, the Office Manager, who kept us reliably informed from the 'get go'. To sum up, a friendly, efficient and reliable firm, who you can count on, and I would highly recommend them for your plumbing needs. I do not think that a 5 star rating is good enough, as I would easily give them a 6+. andrew davyTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. This was the third time we have used Redfern. This time doing our downstairs toilet, from an empty shell to a fully designed interior and functioning room. They are very friendly, professional and finish the job to the highest of standards. From start to finish they are polite and friendly, always keeping you updated on how the job is going. They always make sure that they leave the area as clean at the end of the working day as it was when they started. I look forward to using them again in the future as I continue to update my house. Roger BrooksTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. From first contact and meeting Mark to provide an estimate to Andy fitting a replacement boiler. It all went smoothly and we were kept up to date with dates and times. Andy carried out a good job and left the place very clean and tidy. Explained all the controls of the new boiler/thermostat.
